These are gorgeous. I tend to like for my icons to have defined purposes, so I'll actually use them in comments or posts. I haven't yet come up with a reason to use one of these, and I know I'd have trouble deciding which! They're just so beautiful. *picks up the post and puts it in a box*
(As you can see, I'm behind in Wizzy-posts... I'm entering exam period, alas.)
Now why on earth has this delectable and delightful dandelion post not gotten more comments?!! This is brilliant, everything I want in an icon. The sense of air and lightness, of wind and motion, and of this delicate fanning beauty - all emphasized by the contrasting arrested motion of the black and white - an old, frozen photograph of freewheeling joy and freedom - these things are all perfection. The only difficulty is in deciding which to use. I love the way you faded out the border in a rough style about the edges, like the edges of an old photo, much loved, thrown into a chest in the attic, discovered by a little girl. That's what this makes me think of - wonder and youth.
As for the comment count, it's a long time since I stopped being puzzled about that. It happens all the time; posts that I think are only just passable gets all the attention, while posts that I am particularly pleased with (like this one) are practically ignored. *shrugs* It's just one of those things, I suppose. It's a good turn then, that the few comments I get to these posts are of the really inspiring kind. Like this one :) *hugs* Good luck with the exams :)
As for the comments, well, people like pictures of actors. I know your actor ones get tons of comments, and they deserve them because you use amazing techniques on them which sometimes I look at and admire (if I don't comment on your post, it means I haven't looked at it period, which is always an actor post bc I never take anything from them(except certain lovely ladies)). But it can be harder to see more subtle beauties, or even if they are seen, harder to know what to do with them. But for me, the random things speak the loudest. And I think that it must be hardest, and most rewarding, to work with the quietest things in a way - the things that, unlike people, might not tell their own story until you bring it out with your technique.
My fic works like your icon posts. The fic that's best, that is closest to artwork (I would never call anything I write art for alas, I'm not that good), are the ones that get the fewest comments. It's a combination, I know, of those fics never being the popular pairings in the fandom and of them, regardless of pairing, not being the easy narratives to read. They're not Boy meets Boy, falls in love, etc. They're the stories of someone's life, the shades of grey that make up a person, not a romance (even if it is a love story). So my Harry/Snape fics (a very popular pairing) have started to get a lot of attention, which is wonderful, but at the same time makes me uneasy. Because they're no better than any other of my fic. But in many ways, a comment on one of the less popular fics that shows me that the reader really got what I was saying is worth more to me than 10 comments that don't do that.
Oh dear, now I sound ungrateful to my readers, which I'm not at all. I cherish every one of them. But you know what I mean.
I need this semester to be over - it's been the worst of my life, and I've been through more than my share of schooling at this point. So thank you for the exam wishes - may they be swift! 2.5 more weeks (and then I start work for the summer...)
Psst. PS - keep fans in mind. Not a request - I've got more icons than I know what to do with! - but it just dawned on me that you could do some beautiful things with fans, and I don't think you've done them. (?) Painted fans, plain fans, fans hiding a lady's face, whatever.
And I'm horridly in love with the dandelions even more than ever now that I've put some into use. They really suit my mood of the last few weeks.
Fans Don't think that I have not tried! (This is a bit unnerving btw, how your suggestions seem to fit right into 'the plan', but it is, of course, not the least bit surprising) Thing is that I can't find any fan pics of good quality that I like, and I have not yet found a satisfactory way to display the pics I have found, that rests for now in a folder on my HP
I have some folders....
I love that you love the dandelions. They need good homes :D
I gave myself a birthday present of more user icon space, so now I'm touring your icon journal for more goodies. I have taken the ones you call One, Silhouette, and Sunny, and will credit. I think I'll upload them right away so they are there when I want them -- whenever that might be. I can usually tell at first glance which icons are going to be good for me, there is a kind of feeling I get seeing them, where I can imagine the exact mood one of your icons will portray when the time comes. Thank you for having so many perfect ones to choose from!
These are so - light - in every sense of the word, they leave me speechless. I took 'loss', after much debate with myself, but I'll have to put them under 'memory' to look at them again later.

But the delicate state afterwards (like these) never fails to make me happy.
I love dandelions. :)

Maybe my body does need sleep after all...

I'm afraid I can't help you with a purpose for these, I don't think there is one. And maybe that is purpose enough?
