Something that stings, for those who like such things ;)

Under cut as a phobia precaution...

These are beautiful Wizzy. Again, your composition is perfect, and the greens are brilliant! So graceful.

#7 is great..."don't mess with me." :)

The green snakes are so beautiful. I can't get over the rich colors. Lovely.
Are you still thinking about making #7 your new icon? Not to interfere with your plans, but if you aren't going to use it, would you please do one for me?
btw, there is a lady who is in love with the icon you made for me....not in love with Sean but with the icon and the image. She has great taste!
Thanks.

I was thinking of something in a funny vein. How about:
I'm sssssssoooo pretty.
If you think that's too corny, please tell me. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
There's an old movie that I like called "SSSSSSS". Sound better?
Thank you.

I'm sorry about the jelly fishes. But there is no reason to not cut the snakes because I didn't cut them, is it? I'm just trying to be as nice as possible here...

I'm very happy that you like them :)

*gasp* Snakes! Green! Dangerous! I should check my f-list before responding to prior comments. *g*

I covet them. All of them. #10. #9. #5, and 4 and 3! I think I have to start with 3. Amazing colors. Beautiful shots. omg, I have to go back and make one the icon for my snake fic from months ago. Cuz, you know, no one else will ever see it, but I'll know it's there and it will match!!!

Wizzy! I had this brain-flash while baking brownies just now. You post icons the way I write fic! You take an image and build a collection of icons around it, different angles or shades and colors or variations. That's exactly the way I like to write. Maybe that's why I like your icons so much! That, and that you get really great pics to make even prettier.

I suppose you are right :) That is what I'm doing, in a way.
It is a question of balance, really. Don't laugh, but the icon making does the same for me now as collecting stamps did when I was younger. It is pretty much the same thing. I can't explain it, it just is.

I'm very flattered that you thought about my icons outside the lj world! Of course it was a brain-flash, but still---*beams*

About your fics, would you consider friending whitewizzy, so that I can read you?
*bats eyelashes*
I'm intrigued by the idea of you writing in the same manner as I make icons. .. And of course, thank you for saying such nice things :)

You have been friended, my dear. I think, though, that you've seen everything I've written since it's been cross-posted to Rugbytackle. Except my new fic! *bounces* Harry Potter! Sorry, I'm still excited about this. Your snake icons came out at just the right time to use in the post. ;-)

Ever since last spring, I've tended to write around a theme, mostly nature. There fics for all sorts of things. I suppose the ones that best show what I'm talking about would be Yellow (http://www.livejournal.com/users/rinsbane/16629.html) (though I don't recommend it if golden showers squick you) or the feather fic (http://www.livejournal.com/users/rinsbane/19140.html#cutid1) which takes a different tactic at using a reoccurring image. Or the spices fic. And the HP, which is about crows. Never mind, there are too many. You don't have to read any.

Speaking of icons and spices, what kind of pics make good icons? I've seen a few interesting ones of spices, but I have no idea what's iconagible. Hmm, I don't think "iconagible" is a word.

(no subject)

Date: 2005-01-28 05:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wizzicons.livejournal.com
If it isn't, it should be. Because some pics are iconagible and some aren't-
they need to be fairly big, preferably high res (I can only find small ones), they should be in focus and it should not be too 'polluted'. Meaning that the background should be either calm or fairly easy to separate from the spice.
Am I making sense? I don't have much language for this in english :(
And then, of course, it should be a beautiful picture with lots of colour, taken from an interesting angle. And the object should not be too small...

You can see why it might take some time to collect some photos. And i can't make only one, can I?.... Well for you I can :D

Where are those pics you were talking about?

::squeaks:: I almost forgot to look at these! Soooo cool! I think I like the first 3 and last 3 best...though the closeup of scales is pretty awesome. Bah, I should stop trying to figure out which I like better, I'll keep changing my mind. ^_~

Oh, random thought!! Have you ever made icons of bees?
I have a friend who likes bees a -lot-, and I saw a few of her icons, and of course the idea struck me, I wonder if wizzi has made bee icons? Hmmm... lol. I'm a dork. =D
Butterflies would be cool too. Wow! I'm rambling, forgive me.

Not bees as such, though it is a wonderful idea! I have been looking into insects, though, and I have a folder here containing some nice butterfly pictures... They will probably be up later this spring. Unless it is some kind of 'emergency'?

These are gorgeous, Wizzy! I love snakes as art and jewelry, though not so much in real life. I tried (and mostly failed, I confess) to draw a snake posed like #1 last time I was at the Bronx Zoo, but it's #8 I really love - he looks quite dragonlike - and am going to hijack, now that an anonymous friend has gifted me with 35 more icons.

I just couldn't resist leaving you another comment here. And look, it's a sign, you see, bc it's almost a year to the day that you posted this. I just came back to this post (via your handy index!) because I'm about to post a fic that is very snake heavy, and in particular features one bright green viper, and these icons (blanks, bases, whatever, I know, I'm sorry, you've explained this to me before and I can't keep them straight!) are exactly what I had in mind when I was writing. So I have to use one, and I wasn't sure what I'd saved, if perhaps a year later something else from the post might strike me more.

And I got here, and they're just so lovely, and they made me squee all over again. And I can't decide which one to use. *g* But the colors - have I raved to you about the wonderful colors? So sharp, every bit of the snakes' texture comes through. Just gorgeous.

Never mind the terms, they are basically there for the people who thinks they have the right to define what's bases and consequently do what they like with them. Of course, they'll do that whatever I call them, so I really shouldn't bother, should I?
It's just, it really bothers me when I see them smeared with some tacky text, colours changed, animated and whatnot. But, alas, there is little I can do about it, and since most of it is someone else's work in the first place, I really have no right to makea lot of dramaout of it. :)
Anyway, you are not the aim for such labels, that's my point. I am really all for the pretty/not so pretty :)

See? I'm rambling agin.

Anyway, it is immencely flattering that you come back and take some more. And, of course, there can never be too much raving about colours ;)

No, I think you do have a right to be bothered. It's sort of like writing fanfic - sure, I borrowed the characters, but the product is something I wrote. And while that claim would never stand against the orig producer, nor would I want it to bc I'm grateful to the author for producing the work in the first place, I wouldn't want another fan who has no more right than I do to steal my work and pass it off as her own. Also, in your case, when you put work into something and your name goes on it, and then someone messes it up, someone else (who didn't know better, obviously) might think that you created that monster.

See? not rambling. *g*

And you do know that I could never heap enough praise on your work, yes? I love all the new posts, but I think just as much I love it when I go back and look at something again and see it in a new way. I just uploaded two of your old icons, one of which I'd used before and another that I hadn't, and I'm just in love with them all over again, like brand new. They're so pretty and expressive. That's it really - beyond all the beauty, I really think your work expresses something. Reflects what I want it to. Crazy? Maybe... ;-)

uhm, have you thought about doing falling cherry blossoms? Not sure if you could capture that well in such a small place. They're just my new obsession - do you ever read Pablo Neruda? Best poet ever, and I don't generally like poetry. He has this line that I'm currently viewing as the summation of all passion: "I want to do with you what the spring does with the cherry trees." See it? *sigh* Anyway, that's why I'm using the apple flowers again, bc they're almost the same.

Ok, this was rather long-winded. I'm just happy to have you back!
